Dear MysticNation,

One of the best parts of being president at Bismarck State College is having a front-row seat to the incredible things happening across campus. Nearly every week, I have opportunities to celebrate student success, visit with students and employees, showcase our programs to industry leaders, welcome alumni back to campus, and meet future Mystics who are considering BSC. All those conversations remind me why this college is such a special place and why I never take these opportunities for granted.

Over the past few months, we’ve had so many reasons to celebrate. Each has been unique, but all reflect the pride and dedication that define our BSC community.

In May, we officially opened The Bav, a space that is already bringing our campus together in new ways. We held our 2026 Commencement on our own campus, creating an unforgettable experience as graduates crossed the stage surrounded by the people who supported them every step of the way.

We also recognized our outstanding alumni during the BSC Alumni Awards and Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony and celebrated another exceptional class of nursing graduates during the BSC Nursing Pinning ceremony in May. Similarly, we’ll honor another extraordinary cohort of nursing and paramedic students later this summer. These events highlight the lasting impact of a BSC education and the difference our graduates make in their professions and communities.

During Explore BSC in late May, prospective students and their families came to campus and experienced firsthand the welcoming environment and outstanding opportunities that await them here.

In June, the President’s Cup Golf Tournament brought together generous sponsors, industry partners, alumni, and friends of BSC to support student-athlete scholarships, raising $30k for scholarships that will benefit students for years to come. We also welcomed our new lineworker students to campus to begin their summer session.

And now in July, we hosted the Lions All-Star Basketball Game in The Bav, which introduced many first-time visitors to our campus and gave us the chance to showcase what BSC has to offer.

While these events may look different on the calendar, they all have one thing in common. They happen because people care. Faculty and staff go the extra mile. Students bring enthusiasm and pride to BSC events. Alumni, donors, volunteers, and community partners continue to invest in our future. Thank you for making BSC a place where opportunities are created, experienced, celebrated, and shared…together.

Before we know it, another academic year will begin. That means Move-In Weekend, Welcome Week, and Homecoming are right around the corner. I encourage you to engage and take advantage of the many opportunities that come your way. Attend an event, cheer on your fellow Mystics, introduce yourself when we cross paths, or simply stop by and say hello. I always enjoy meeting members of our campus community and hearing your ideas, your experiences.

Enjoy the second half of your summer and thank you for being part of all that makes this college such a remarkable place.
