Bismarck State College’s Baseball team is off to a solid spring season. They are 22-15 overall and 8-6 in conference play. The team is currently batting at a .334 average, and average 10 runs a game. Freshman Cole Shirley has led the team. Shirley is currently batting at a .474 and has an on base percentage of .513. Sophomore Cooper Stahlman leads the team in home runs with 5. On the pitching side of things, freshman Isaac Mitchell and Shirley are both standing out as they have low ERA’s and strikeouts per game. They have 10 games left before the conference tournament takes place, where they look to make it to the regional tournament, and then the district tournament. When speaking to Freshman Isaac Mitchell, about their goals to finish up the season he said this.
"Our goal is to host the Mondak Regional games in Bismarck.” To do this they must finish with the best overall record in the conference. Mitchell also said “At the end of the day we look to keep stacking up wins and doing the best we can to win the regional tournament.”
On the other side of athletics, we have softball where the team is 19-14-1 overall and 7-7 in conference play. They also have 10 games left in the regular season before their conference tournament which will start on May 1. They are led in the hitting department by freshman Brielle Wrangham. She is batting at .438 and has an on base percentage of .453. She also leads the team in home runs with 3. Her 40 RBI’s are where she really stands out, where the second most RBI’s on the team is 25. On the pitching end, freshman Hailey Molde and Kathryn Sliman both share plenty of time in the pitchers circle. They have had solid years of experience to help their team.
You can find both teams’ schedules with their remaining games on the BSC Mystics sports website.
