BSC Athletic Highlights 2025-2026

Cross-Country

Ava Stafford and Jakson Ensign were individual qualifiers for the NAIA cross-country nationals after placing in the top 10 at the Frontier Conference race in Billings, Mont. They were among the only four women and four men from the Frontier Conference that were selected to compete as individual qualifiers. They traveled to Tallahassee, Fla. for the championship.

Wrestling

Women’s wrestling got its start this year and saw strong performances from the new recruits. Meanwhile, men’s wrestling took off with a few athletes placing at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship. Will Sprenger, Owen Lindstrom, and Kameron Stiffler claimed their places in the 2026 NAIA National Championships.

Volleyball

The Mystics volleyball team competed in their last game in the Armory this year. Chelsa Krom and Kate Zimmer were honored before the game. Zimmer returned for the last game despite facing injuries earlier in the season. The team played hard in a five-set battle that ultimately ended with a victory for the Mystics.

Clay Dusters

The clay target team won the 2025 North Dakota Fall Collegiate Championship. Hosted at the Capital City Gun Club, the team hit 482 out of 500 targets to finish at the top of the competition. The University of Jamestown followed close behind, and the University of Mary finished in third.

Rodeo

The Mystic Stampede rodeo at the Dahl Pahlke Arena saw the Mystics rodeo team sweep both men’s and women’s team titles. On the men’s team, Cael Hilzendeger earned Men’s All-Around Championship, while teammate Kale Hansen claimed the Reserve Champion title. For the women, Addison Salverson was named Reserve Champion All-Around. The Mystic Stampede was the first time in the season that both the men’s and women’s teams finished atop the standings in the same rodeo.

Basketball

The transition to the NAIA has proven a challenge for both teams, but it also has proved that these teams can adapt and work hard to make wins happen. Notable moments from this year include women’s guard Kennedy Stormer being named as a First Team All-Conference selection and the men’s first NAIA victory against Bellevue in the Armory.

Track & Field

The team has seen highlights from both indoor and outdoor track & field this year. At the Inaugural Frontier Indoor Track & Field Championships, the men’s and women’s teams placed fourth out of the nine teams attending the competition. The Mystics won nine events overall, led by the sprinters who set the tone for the rest of the weekend.

Baseball

Although the spring baseball team is still underway, the team has claimed victories that highlight their grit and determination. A recent highlight is the game against Valley City State University. It was a close game, but the Mystics tied it together in the end for a 9-8 win.

Softball

The softball team has been here and yonder, traveling as far as Florida to play in competitions. The team had the chance to play against the Czech Republic in Florida as well. The team played their last game on April 22 against Valley City State University. Although they lost the first game, the team came back strong in the second game with a win of 8-2.
